Choosing to Focus

Whether you see the dark or see the light is a matter of what you choose to focus on. Choose wisely.

The interesting thing about the pictures above is that the darker of the two images metered the exposure for the blinding light of the sun while the brighter of the images metered the exposure for the ground in front of me. The choice is not as obvious as the assumption that one should elect to focus on the light because, as Jung said, “One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious.”
